About Me...

Hello and Welcome to my Photography Ether-Space.

As you may have already guessed, my name is Tim Searle. I live in a small market town in Lincolnshire, called Louth. I have several hobbies, including coarse fishing (mainly for Carp), Computers (both building and using), learning about various programming languages (Python, HTML, Bootstrap, etc...), and Photography. In an attempt to amalgamate several hobbies, I combine fishing with photography to take pictures on the river bank or lake side. I combine photography with computers to edit some of my pictures with free programs such as "Darktable & GIMP", then I combine my finished photos with my knowledge of computers by creating this web site from the ground up, using HTML, CSS, Javascript & Bootstrap. Hopefully you like what I produce.

I started my photography in March 2021 with a Nikon 1. My neighbour, Mark Thompson, is a keen amateur photographer, and, during a conversation with him, I explained that I would like to enter this hobby, but the initial expenditure was too much, I couldn't afford thousands of pounds on equipment just for a hobby. He lent me his Nikon to try, and explained that second-hand Mirrorless cameras could be purchased for a reasonable price (even cheaper if you buy a camera and lens kit). After trying the Nikon, I decided to buy my own Olympus PEN E-PL5 kit for about £200. This camera, although fairly basic, served me well from August 2021 to December 2021, when I felt I was ready for the next stage of my photography experimentation.

Even though I had taken some (what I thought to be) great photos with the Olympus PEN, there were still more features on my next camera, which is currently the Olympus OM-D E-M5 mark iii. My decision to stay with the Olympus Micro Four Thirds (M4/3) sensor size was mainly to save money. I could buy the body only, and still use the lenses from the PEN kit (until I could buy extra lenses that would be more suitable to my style of photography). I explain more about each camera and their features in the Equipment section. If you have any questions about my photographs, whether it be locations, composition, or settings, please contact me via the Contact Me section. I would be pleased to hear your comments and views on my pictures.

Disclosure Time: There are only a few pictures which I don't claim to be mine, which are Stock Photos of the cameras I use on the Equipment Page. ALL other images have been taken by me, edited by me, and are Copyright Tim Searle. I am not so bigoted that I refuse to share my images, however, if you wish to use them somewhere, share them somewhere, or re-distribute them somewhere, all I would like is a quick message through my Contact Me page to explain where they will be used, and a mention about me & this web site on the location you intend to use them.
